Medical device manufacturers are the most demanding customers we supply, and not because of the material. PEEK, PEI and PPS are well understood in the sector. What is demanding is the documentation and the change control.
A medical customer needs to be able to trace a finished component back to the resin batch, and to know that nothing changed between the validated build and the production run. That means no silent substitution of a grade, no change of machining method, no change of deburring media without notification and re-validation.
In practice this shapes how we run the job. Material is quarantined per lot, machining parameters are frozen and recorded, and cleaning is defined and repeatable — usually ultrasonic in a specified medium, because medical components cannot be handled in the way general industrial parts are. Biocompatibility paperwork is supplied per grade under ISO 10993. We will always ask whether the part is a finished device component or a manufacturing aid, because the requirements are different and the pricing should reflect that.
