RoHS restricts ten substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Unfilled engineering plastics contain almost none of them, which is why most of our grades are declared compliant with no qualification needed.
The trap is colour. Certain cadmium-based and lead-based pigments were historically used to produce stable reds, yellows and oranges in plastics, and a handful of stabilisers carry restricted substances. A part can therefore be compliant in its natural colour and non-compliant in a coloured version, simply because of what was added to tint it.
Because of that, we do not issue a blanket RoHS statement for a material — we issue it for a grade, meaning polymer plus colour plus any additives. When you ask, tell us the colour and we will declare against that. If you are buying black parts and assuming the black is fine, it almost certainly is, but it is worth having on paper.
