Most enquiries that stall do so for the same reason: the buyer wants to see and test the material before committing, and the sample takes longer than the quotation did.
We ship cut samples of any stocked grade by express courier, normally within one working day of the request. Sizes are free-form — tell us the dimensions that suit your test rather than accepting a standard block, and we will cut to that. A 100 by 100 by 10 mm plate for a wear test and a 40 mm diameter disc for a seal are both fine.
Two things make a sample more useful. Ask for the material certificate with it, so the test you run is traceable. And tell us what you plan to test, because it sometimes changes what we send — for a machining trial we will send material from the same lot we would ship production from, and for a thermal test we will send pre-annealed stock because unannealed material would give a misleading result.
